In 12 Feet Deep, I really wanted to challenge myself as a filmmaker and tell a contained story that didn’t rely too much on the use of special effects, but rather deals with redemption, guilt, and the bond of sisterhood. The overall concept was just the dressing for the deeper layers I wanted to explore as a storyteller.
I'm a sucker for these type of survivor thrillers, and 12 Feet Deep is a pretty good one about two sisters who find themselves trapped under the plexiglas cover of a large public swimming pool after its closed for a holiday weekend.
Twelve Feet Deep is essentially a story of three women, two of which are trapped and one of which is their detainer. While I do like the film, I do wish some aspects of it had been done a bit differently.
